Steve Fields Steak and Lobster Lounge

Dark and clubby, Steve Field's has that steakhouse feel: jazzy background music, grand parchment lamps, spacious booths, even gleaming stainless steak knives monogrammed with the affabe owner's name. No snobbism here; families come to indulge in a fine-dining experience without having to dress the part.The FoodOf course steak and lobster prevail--especially the steak, wet-aged and often prime. The big boy is a 22-ounce porterhouse. At the other extreme: beef crostini, crispy toasts topped with bites of tender steak. The mixed grill is a deal: filet medallions, a double chicken breast, and three jumbo shrimp, all impeccably char-grilled. Sides and salads are a la carte, but reasonably priced, averaging $5 to $6. File under "luscious" the skin-on smoked cheese mashed potatoes and lobster bisque, with bits of lobster in a velvety-rich cream. Desserts have a nifty gimmick: Whether carrot cake or Key lime pie, all are delivered in triangular sundae glasses.
